Specialized Manufacturing. Quality You Can Count On.

Waupaca Manufacturing Facility

As Steele Solutions continues to invest in growth, capacity, and operational excellence, our Waupaca facility plays a critical role in delivering the high-quality products our customers rely on.

The Steele Solutions Waupaca facility is the dedicated fabrication and finishing partner to our Milwaukee platform manufacturing plant. Together, the two locations function as a single, high-output manufacturing operation for structural steel platforms.

Located in Waupaca, Wisconsin, this 106,000-square-foot manufacturing facility specializes in the fabrication, finishing, and production of non-structural steel platform and mezzanine components.

The division of labor is intentional. By specializing in non-structural components — stairs, ladders, handrails, floorplates, connecting plates, and finish painting — our Waupaca team can move faster, maintain tighter quality control, and support the volume demands of one of the most productive platform manufacturing operations in the country.

Specialized Manufacturing for Steel Platform Systems

The Waupaca facility serves as Steele Solutions’ dedicated manufacturing center for non-structural steel platform / mezzanine components and finished products.

Products manufactured at Waupaca include:

  • Industrial stairs
  • Ladders
  • Handrails
  • Kickplates
  • Floorplates
  • Connection plates
  • Fabricated mezzanine components
  • C-frame products
  • Custom laser-cut parts

In addition to fabrication, the facility serves as a finishing center, painting completed components before they are shipped for final assembly.

By creating specialized facilities, each team can focus on what they do best. Waupaca handles non-structural manufacturing and finishing, while Milwaukee focuses on structural components. Specialization allows us to deliver better quality and greater efficiency for our customers.

Why Strategic Specialization Matters to Quality

The Waupaca facility isn’t simply additional manufacturing space. It is a strategic investment in specialization, efficiency, and capacity.

By separating structural and non-structural manufacturing between the Waupaca and Milwaukee facilities, Steele Solutions has created a production model that allows both operations to become experts in their respective areas.

This specialization helps deliver:
● Improved production efficiency
● Increased manufacturing capacity
● Consistent quality standards
● Reliable lead times
● Greater operational flexibility
● Enhanced business continuity

Together, the Milwaukee and Waupaca facilities provide customers with a complete platform solution backed by dedicated expertise at every stage of manufacturing.

Key Capabilities

Automated Fiber Laser Cutting System

A 20kw fiber laser operates on a large-format 8×20-foot table.

  • Large-format precision cutting
  • Exceptional accuracy and repeatability
  • High production efficiency
  • Automated material handling

Continuous Flow Powder Coat Paint Line

The facility operates a 36-station continuous-flow powder coating line featuring:

  • A three-stage wash system
  • Surface pretreatment
  • Automated powder coating
  • 20-minute curing oven

Parts leave Waupaca protected, finished, and ready to install.

Certified Welding

With 10 AWS- and CWB (CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) certification is the industry standard for structural welding in Canada. It requires welders to pass a practical test overseen by a CWB representative. The certification is valid for two years, costs roughly $180 per test, and covers specific welding processes, positions, and materials. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)-certified welders on staff, every weld in Waupaca meets rigorous standards. Quality isn’t a checkbox — it’s the foundation of excellence and execution our customers rely on.

Indoor Storage and Material Protection

  • No outdoor material storage
  • Reduced corrosion exposure
  • Protection from weather-related damage
  • Improved material condition
  • Cleaner and protected finished products
  • Finished components are transported using covered transportation

Visitors are often surprised by how clean and organized the facility is. In manufacturing, cleanliness equals efficiency. When materials are organized and workflows are streamlined, we spend less time working around obstacles and more time producing quality products.
